Sitting above the large village with views over the slopes, the
Hotel le Petit Dru is a large Alpine hotel in Morzine, situated close to the Portes du Soleil ski area which is
equally suited to skiers and non-skiers.
The hotel has been in the same family for many years, so you can always be sure of the same warm welcome and consistent
good service. Rooms are offered on either a half board or full board basis, and the restaurant has been decorated
in the typical Savoyard style of timber and accents of reds and greens. The emphasis is on traditional hearty dishes
which are always welcome after a strenuous day on the slopes or indulging in the many other alpine activities on
offer in the area.
There are 75 rooms in total which all offer the same standard of accommodation. There are twin beds that can be
converted to a double if required, a third bed (or bunk beds for families subject to availability), a flat screen
television, simple but traditional wooden furnishings and a balcony where you can admire the views over the Vallée
d'Aulps. There is an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower attachment over, and toilet.
As well as the superb location and comfortable accommodation, the Hotel le Petit Dru also offers guests a large
comfortable 'salon' area where you can sit and relax, a bar, table football for the younger guests and a crèche
with qualified child care provider for the little ones (8€ per hour, every day except Saturdays during the school
holidays - subject to availiblity). There is a large heated swimming pool which is part covered so you can swim
even after heavy snowfalls, and there is a jacuzzi and sauna to soothe those aching muscles. A tennis court is
also on hand should you wish.
Built into the hillside above the town, the elevated position means the Hotel Le Petit Dru benefits from lovely
views over the rooftops, but there are steps leading down to the village which means that the hotel is closer to
all the amenities than it first appears.
With its 248kms of pistes (26 black runs, 100 red, 106 blue and 34 green), and part of the massive 'Portes du Soleil'
ski domaine, Morzine is a great base for all levels of skiers. The village sits at an altitude of 1000m whilst
the highest lift goes up to 2466m (verticle drop of 1466m). It is much larger than average, with a plenty of restaurants,
bars, snack-bars, nightclubs and even a cinema for those who like to indulge in some decent 'apres-ski' after a
day on the slopes. However, Morzine doesn't just cater for skiers as there are also plenty of other activities
such as 'balade en raquettes' (snow shoes), parapent, snowmobiles, helicopter rides & for those looking for
a real adrenaline rush, even ice diving under the Lac de Montriond! The ice skating rink in the centre of town
is open throughout the winter, and if you are lucky, you may even catch a local ice hockey match where you will
soon find yourself shouting and cheering with the rest of the spectators. For little ones there is the 'jardin
d'enfants' which is an alpine garden for children up to 4 years old with all sorts of snow based activities. At
the ESF, they will also take children from the tender age of 4 years for their first ski lessons.
From the centre of Mozine, the lifts take you up to the summet of the snow capped mountains where, subject to good
conditions you can ski right back to the centre of the village. All the runs from the Versants du Pléney,
the runs are bordered by picturesque pines whilst from the side of Super Morzine you can access Grand Avoriaz and
the other ski resorts that form the Portes du Soleil massive ski domaine.
